NBSC JOINS ASEAN PEACE EDUCATION HIGH-LEVEL CONFERENCE IN MANILA
Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) strengthened its commitment to peace education and regional cooperation as Mr. Alven L. Gomez, Designate Director of the Community Extension Services Division (CESD), represented the College at the ASEAN Peace Education High-Level Conference held from September 21–24, 2026, at The Grand Ballroom, Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria, Quezon City.
Carrying the theme “Peace Education for Shared Futures and Enduring Cooperation,” the conference brought together education leaders, policymakers, peace practitioners, youth representatives, Indigenous Peoples’ advocates, and other stakeholders from across the ASEAN region to advance peace education and foster greater understanding and cooperation.
The conference featured high-level discussions on peace education across ASEAN Member States, foundational learning, intercultural and interfaith dialogue, Indigenous conflict-resolution practices, emerging threats and social polarization, and the role of youth as catalysts for peace.
Mr. Gomez’s participation provided NBSC with an opportunity to gain insights and learn from practices and approaches in peace education that may be integrated into the College’s community extension, peace education, and community engagement initiatives. These learnings may contribute to NBSC’s efforts to support inclusive, resilient, and peaceful communities, particularly through programs that promote dialogue, understanding, and community participation.
The College extends its sincere appreciation to NBSC College President Dr. Christie Jean Villanueva-Ganiera, CESE, for the support that made the College’s participation in this significant regional conference possible. Such institutional support underscores NBSC’s commitment to expanding its engagement beyond the campus and contributing to broader efforts toward peace, understanding, cooperation, and sustainable community development.
NBSC looks forward to translating relevant insights and learnings from the conference into meaningful initiatives that can further enrich its programs and strengthen its engagement with the communities it serves.
